And even more snow

Enough with the snow already!

I’m enjoying a day off, but we’ll be sorry come June when we have to make it up.

The view from my window.

Looks Like Snow…

The sky is gray and close… Looks and smells like snow!

Snow, snow and more snow

It’s snowing again. I refused to stay in the house all day and was pleased to find the main roads were just wet like it had been raining. I went to the library, ate lunch, and stopped by the mall – just your typical Saturday. 😉

And we’re supposed to get more again on Tuesday. Yee-hah.

Snow Falling on Civic

I love how quiet it is outside when it snows. It’s even quieter inside the car, especially when I don’t clear off the windows, like a cave.

Then I think it’s funny how the brake light reflects off of the rear window snow so I can see it from the inside. I wonder what it looks like on the outside, if they can see it at all?

Blizzard of 2009

The official reading for Bensalem: 11 inches.

It’s deep!

Sidewalk before…

Dad to the rescue! He brought his snowblower over (even though it was all done!) and made it better. Then he plowed the neighbor’s driveway and two houses’ sidewalks. (Unlike the THREE people I saw with snowblowers this morning *who actually live here* who did only their own house. Nice!)

Sidewalk after the snowblower. Much nicer!

My poor car

The Saturday before Christmas is when Santa comes around the neighborhood on the local volunteer fire truck. I heard one siren wail yesterday afternoon but never saw anything. (It takes hours for them to go around. And, it could’ve been for an emergency, but we don’t ever hear sirens with that…) This afternoon I head the siren, and it was close, so I threw on my boots and they were right out front! I don’t know why it’s so thrilling.

The Ladder Truck

And there it is, The Blizzard of 2009!

Why People Buy Bread, Eggs and Milk before a Snowstorm

Just kidding. 😀 Though that is the big joke, that people run out to buy the ingredients to make French Toast just because they’re going to be snowed in. Are milk, bread and eggs really the most basic staples we need? Who knows.

By the way, these are Bird’s Nests, not French Toast, and they were quite yummy – and a little more worthy of reading Julie and Julia while eating. 😉 Although I am sure they do not appear in Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Evolution of a Blizzard

The big Nor’Easter has arrived. Let the Blizzard begin!

When we first heard about it a few days ago, it wasn’t supposed to start til tonite and even then it was only a 50/50 chance it would actually snow. By Friday the weather forecasters were calling it a sure thing. PennDOT started prepping the roads. I went to bed around midnight, and there was no snow. I woke up at 8:30 to a good dusting, maybe an inch or just a half.

8:45 a.m.
The backyard.

The flakes are little, and a lot of it is just blowing around, like what Lily is checking out here in the bay window.

10:15 a.m.
You can still see the grass but definitely less of it.

12:10 p.m.
Not as much of a difference as I would expect after two hours and a bout of bigger flakes…

Lunch. Mmmm mmm good.

1:30 p.m.
… and an hour later, the grass is covered. Still not as bad as everyone predicted. Yet.

Cars look so funny when people do this. But, it does make it possible to use the windshield wipers which is definitely good.

The snow plow has come around three times already, and the last time he looped around to get both side of the street. The last time it snowed they didn’t come around til the next day!

4:15 p.m.
The sky is more overcast. It’s also getting close to sundown (I hate that about Winter!) but it’s gray, not dark. We’ve got six inches so far.

(Yes, that’s my “Hillary for President” campaign ruler.)

5:30 p.m.
Still snowing. 6.5 inches. Snowflakes really small, almost like tiny sleet.

7:45 p.m.
Still snowing. Eight inches.

10:30 p.m.
11 inches. I think it has stopped.
